Background

In a White House announcement event on public-private partnerships, NVIDIA declared a significant move to enhance American K-12 school education in artificial intelligence (AI). The company will invest 25 million dollars to assist high schools in the country to learn AI skills.

The project aligns with the White House Executive Order that advocates AI education among young Americans. NVIDIA would like to train students to enter the AI-oriented economy and contribute to the U.S. technological leadership in the future.

NVIDIA will partner with two widely used educational platforms, Study Fetch and CK-12, to distribute its Deep Learning Institute (DLI) content and NVIDIA Academy to high schools. It will be a collaboration to assist educators in incorporating practical AI learning resources and training in their classrooms.

NVIDIA employee Josh Woodward explained that the program will equip high school students with real-world skills, making them familiar with AI and creating an interest in technology-related careers. This program is set to target 1 million students within three years.

In addition to K-12 education, NVIDIA recently invested up to $30 million in national AI research programs and collaborated with the U.S. National Science Foundation to fund academic research.

The plan announced in July by the White House, the AI Action Plan, encourages the acceleration of data center approvals and also facilitates the export of American technology in AI. In accordance with this proposal, NVIDIA and the National Science Foundation promised to invest $152 million to create open AI models that can be used in research and education.
