Background:
A representative from Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute attended an intensive academic workshop hosted by Leibniz University Hannover in the second half of March. The event was part of the MInT-Ukraine programme, which works to strengthen international cooperation and modernise higher education in Ukraine.
The workshop brought together experts from 15 Ukrainian universities to strengthen links with the European Research Area. Iryna Prykhodko, Director of the Centre for International Education, represented Kyiv Polytechnic and took part in discussions on global academic partnerships.
The programme mainly focused on micro-credentials. These are short courses that help students and professionals learn specific skills. Participants explored how these can make education more flexible and better suited to current job needs.
The workshop also covered ways to improve international education and support systems for foreign students. Participants explored three main models, including international offices, welcome centres and digital tools such as the MoveOn system. They also received hands-on training on how to design and approve micro-credentials.
At the Centre for Continuing Education, specialists walked participants through how to build training programmes, explaining core design methods step by step. Kyiv Polytechnic then presented its own ideas and received feedback from German academics and industry professionals.
The programme ended with discussions on research funding and international networking, including opportunities under Horizon Europe. The visit also showed how universities in Hannover work together with local authorities to support innovation.
The experience will help Kyiv Polytechnic introduce English-language courses, build international partnerships, and offer education programmes that meet global standards.
