Background

Vidya AI, a California-based edtech startup, has launched an AI-powered grading and learning assistant to help STEM teachers and students. Founders Dr. Pingakshya Goswami and Dhritiman Talukdar designed the platform to lighten professors’ workloads and make it easier for students to understand difficult subjects.

Launched in September 2025, Vidya AI uses artificial intelligence to turn lectures, videos, and assignments into interactive learning tools. More than 500 students across the world are already using the platform. So far, Vidya AI has analysed over 4,000 academic videos and answered more than 10,000 student questions.

The platform focuses on two major problems in higher education. Professors spend many hours grading, and students often struggle to get help quickly, especially in large classes. Vidya AI helps teachers create and grade assignments, exams, and projects. It also lets students ask questions and learn at their own pace.

Several universities have adopted the platform, including the University of Texas at Dallas, University of Houston Clear Lake, San Jose State University, Santa Clara University, Troy University in Alabama and Manipal University in India. Faculty members say the tool helps speed up grading and gives better insight into student learning levels.

Students have also reported better understanding of difficult subjects such as VLSI, using AI-based video analysis and explanations.

Vidya AI has gained recognition from leading global programmes. It has joined the NVIDIA Inception Program and received support from Google, AWS, and ElevenLabs. The startup was also selected for a leading US pre-accelerator programme.

Looking ahead, Vidya AI plans to integrate with learning platforms like Canvas and build a global “Knowledge Playground” to make advanced learning tools more accessible.
