Lawmakers liked to do research on how other states and cities structure policy, gather and monitor that research, and present the information in a meaningful way so that it can inform and convince elected officials to take action. He is the first elected official in the history of Denver—city, state, or federal—to ride in a wheelchair and the first elected official who considers himself a member of the disability community.
Denver ensured the new EV charging stations they installed in new parking lots within Denver were accessible to all, including the disabled. They are investing millions of dollars annually in putting in place an EV charging infrastructure throughout the nation, and it is more prudent to do so in the first place than to re-install the infrastructure later on after policy has been made.
He also is the chairman of a Denver legislative committee known as BIZ, or the Business, Arts, Aviation, Climate, and Workforce Services Committee. It is named so long that no one refers to it as anything except BIZ. One of the departments of their city that is overseen by his committee is their economic development department.
He directs DEDO, and DEDO directs all the economic incentives throughout the entire city. They include EV infrastructure incentives. CASR is also a department, under the report of BIZ, and similarly has economic incentives encouraging further EV use in Denver.
