The Malaysian Education Ministry has revealed that it intends to roll out its one-session, whole-day schooling system for every school throughout the country by 2030. Over 9,000 schools in a number of nearly 10,000 in total implement the one-session system said education minister Fadhlina Sidek adding most strides made to date through education landscape still stand in a queue before achievement of ultimate target when the school shall be of similar implementation country over country.

She identified a good number of pertinent factors which were to be dealt with at an enormous level of depth, viz., limitations on the school physical building itself, and numerous diverse management problems which could well spring up in the course of implementing the change.

The Ministry realizes that proper planning and proper implementation of the change must be made in such a manner that this transition to the one-session model is smooth and streamlined. This is what the minister said Thursday at a leadership forum in the National Public Administration Institute, or Intan. She said the Ministry remains committed to better learning environments for the students in question, while adding that one-session system is one thing. This would be considered to enable focused teaching and more effective use of school facilities. Being one of the major challenges to the single session, the ministry came up with a strategic plan on this; new schools are to be constructed, and upgrading of existing facilities is to take place within the next five years. This is to decongest the very highly populated schools and allow ample space for the single-session system to operate properly.

In these construction and renovation projects, the Ministry has specific targets which reflect seriousness towards achieving the goal of 2030. As such, this ministry works to address infrastructural challenges so as to provide more balanced and efficient education systems to all students in Malaysia.
