In the Jharkhand state budget, Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore outlined a series of ambitious initiatives aimed at enhancing education and healthcare infrastructure in the state. The budget includes the proposal for the establishment of two new universities, five law colleges, and six medical colleges.
The proposed universities are aimed at promoting vocational education, with a focus on skill development and financial technologies. One of the universities will be dedicated to skill development, while the other will specialize in fintech education. Furthermore, the government plans to set up business and mass communication schools in key cities including Jamshedpur, Palamu, Ranchi, Dhanbad, Hazaribag, and Deoghar. These measures are expected to improve the state’s educational framework and empower its youth with critical, industry-relevant skills.
In addition to these initiatives, the budget includes provisions for the establishment of law colleges in Hazaribag, Ranchi, Dhanbad, Dumka, and Palamu. This will offer greater opportunities for students to pursue legal studies within the state and strengthen the legal profession in Jharkhand.
On the healthcare front, the government has committed to improving medical education and health services by allocating resources for the creation of new medical colleges and hospitals. An administrative approval has already been granted for the establishment of a new medical college and hospital in Ranchi. Additionally, proposals have been made to develop medical colleges in Khunti, Giridih, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Deoghar, and Jamtara through a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
For overall educational development, the government has allocated ₹15,198.35 crore for primary and secondary education, along with ₹2,409.20 crore for higher and technical education. Furthermore, a budget of ₹7,470.50 crore has been set aside for healthcare, while initiatives to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and sports training centers have also been included in the budget proposal.
