Known for its inspiring business leadership content, The CIO World magazine is pleased to feature Pierre Jochem, the visionary General Manager of La Mamounia Marrakech, a legendary Moroccan palace.

Under his direction, this site of heritage has been transformed, mixing rich tradition with modern-day sophistication. Refurbishment-wise, Mr. Jochem oversaw a process which was carried out in phases. The first phase was carried out in 2020, and the second was carried out in 2023 for the centenary celebration.
His hospitality background is a travel brochure in itself: London to Bangkok, Hong Kong to New York. That global perspective has shaped his luxury hospitality philosophy. At La Mamounia, he has developed an environment in which every detail is crafted to deliver a whole experience.
His success in the hotel is evident by its numerous accolades, among them being the #1 Hotel in Africa award it received in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards. Pierre’s vision does not just stay within the limit of the hotel but also to sustainability and societal undertakings.
With the hospitality industry getting into the post-pandemic phase, he is not deterred. “Our vision is to create an oasis where travellers can unplug from the world and plug back into themselves,” he says, reducing the future of luxury hospitality to a nutshell.
Pierre was particularly fortunate to have been posted to re-open The Imperial in New Delhi as a market leader. Perhaps one of the most impressive highlights was working as General Manager and Vice-President of Raffles Operations Asia Pacific for Raffles Singapore, managing eight other hotels throughout the region.
What Pierre is most enthusiastic about is the potential to inspire and challenge his teams to deliver excellence. Pierre loves seeing his teams grow, learn, and create memories for their guests.
