Background
The Education Department in Ambala district has started a programme named ‘Gyan Sanskar Manch’ to improve vocabulary, general knowledge and moral values among government school students. The programme is being run in high and senior secondary schools, where daily study material and periodic tests will be conducted to raise learning standards.
The department will provide teachers with daily content comprising two English words, general knowledge questions, moral education topics, mental puzzles and inspirational quotes. Teachers have been asked to present this material during morning assemblies and circulate it through WhatsApp groups so students can access it regularly.
Students will be required to maintain notebooks and write down all material date-wise. The department has planned two examinations, one in August and another in December. Students who perform well at the school and block level will be awarded certificates and publicly recognised.
District Education Officer Sudhir Kalra said the programme is designed to sharpen language skills and general awareness while preparing students for competitive exams. He said the initiative will also help students grow into responsible citizens and pursue their careers with greater confidence.
District Mathematics Specialist Sushil Arora has been appointed as the nodal officer to oversee the programme. It will be rolled out across all government schools in the district with a focus on building consistent daily learning habits.
Teachers and school heads who actively guide students will also be acknowledged for their contribution. The department said that regular and structured learning will help students build a strong academic foundation and perform better in both school exams and competitive environments, officials added.
